Vanuatu - Parliamentary approval of Accession to the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime

PGA warmly congratulates the Parliament of Vanuatu and its PGA Member Hon. Minister Andrew Napuat, MP on the occasion of the approval by parliament on 12 November 2024 of accession to the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime. 

Hon. Minister Andrew Napuat, MP in his then capacity as First Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Vanuatu, was an active and effective participant/representative from Vanuatu at the PGA Regional Pacific Islands Parliamentary Workshop Promoting Accession to the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime, held in Fiji in early May 2024, kindly supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of The Netherlands.


Minister of Internal Affairs, Andrew Napuat, overseeing the Vanuatu Police Force, told the media that the ratification of the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime by Parliament today will help the Vanuatu Police Force build the capacity to prosecute and deal with cybercrime offenses.

It is anticipated that Vanuatu will deposit its Instrument of Accession to the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime in the near future.
