The largest global gathering of LBGTIQ changemakers

ILGA World 2024

About ILGA World Conference:

"Queer democracy in action"

  • Since the 1970s, ILGA World Conferences have joined legislators, civic society and world leaders to assess the socio-political landscape of regions around the world. Experts share experiences and best practices, and build partnerships to advance equality worldwide.
  • The 31st edition of the ILGA World Conference will take place on Nov.11-15, 2024, in Cape Town, South Africa.
  • Known as the largest global gathering of LBGTQ+ changemakers, the conference is named after ILGA World, a worldwide federation of more than 2,000 member organizations from 170 countries campaigning for the human rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and intersex people.
  • Parliamentarians for Global Action (PGA) will convene Executive Committee members and parliamentarians (MPs) from across Africa to discuss the challenges affecting LGBTQ+ communities in the region, provide an opportunity for legislators to connect with civic society around these issues, and equip MPs with the resources they need to be able to defend and protect the rights of these marginalized communities.
  • The conference will include presentations, panel discussions, interactive sessions, cocktail hours and more.
  • This year’s hosts, Iranti and Gender DynamiX, will welcome everyone under the theme: “Kwa umoja we rise!” “Together in unity, we rise!
