Montenegro and the Rome Statute
On 23 October 2006, Montenegro confirmed the ratification of the Rome Statute. The Statute became effective for Montenegro on 3 June 2006, the date of State succession.

Montenegro has adopted full implementing legislation of all core crimes under art. 5 of the Rome Statute via its Criminal Code (only missing art. 7(j) of the RS). The Code also contains provisions related to the principles under the Rome Statute, except for the irrelevance of official capacity (art. 27). There is a Law on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters.
