US Federal Government decides to resume executions
On 25 July 2019, the Justice Department of the United States announced that it would resume federal executions, after a 16-year de facto moratorium. In response, Rep. Ayanna Pressley, member of the US House of Representatives, and Sen. Richard Durbin, member of the US Senate and PGA Member, have both introduced bills to outlaw capital punishment.
PGA Members have strongly condemned such a decision.
It is our responsibility as leaders and representatives of our respective peoples to hold fast to our values and implement criminal justice policies that fully respect the human rights of all. Ms. Julie Ward, Member of the European Parliament from the United-Kingdom, PGA Member
