Election of Nine Board Members and the Treasurer of PGA in San Salvador

On 1 December 2015, the International Council of Parliamentarians for Global Action (PGA), at its annual meeting, elected nine new Members and the Treasurer of the PGA Executive Committee ("the Board") for a term of 2 years, integrating the Board Membership that will continue on for the 2016 term.

The International Council met on the occasion of the PGA Annual Forum, which is hosted every year by a different Parliament where PGA Members are present (currently over 1300 MPs in 143 parliaments from all regions of the world). This year's Forum was generously hosted by the Legislative Assembly of El Salvador in  San Salvador. Over 100 MPs from 41 Parliaments attended the Forum on behalf of the entire PGA Membership, which received invitations, alongside official delegations from several Parliaments – Bangladesh, Chad, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Honduras,  Kenya, Malaysia, Morocco, Paraguay, Papua New Guinea, Spain, Suriname and Uruguay.

The PGA Secretariat looks forward to work with the newly-elected Board Members in order to pursue the realization of the vision of the Organization, namely, "to contribute to the creation of a Rules-Based International Order for a more equitable, safe and democratic world." 

The newly-elected Members are:

The re-elected Members are:

  • Ms. Margareta Cederfelt, MP, Sweden

The new Treasurer of PGA is:

  • Ms. Petra Bayr, MP, Austria
