In what was described as a well- attended Ebola task force meeting of both Kenema and Kailahun Districts, the Minority Leader of Parliament, Hon Dr. Bernadette Lahai presented on behalf of Mr. Mohamed Mahdi Sesay of State House 500 (25kg) bags rice to the two districts that remain the epicenters of the Ebola epidemic.
Kenema received 333 bags of the rice while Kailahun got 200 bags, respectively.
Dr Lahai described Mr. Sesay as a philanthropist and was urged to do the donation because the people of Kenema and Kailahun have shown political tolerance and leadership, especially during the visit of HE the President in the two districts.
She said Mr. Sesay was very much impressed by the resilience demonstrated by the people of these two districts following the outbreak of the disease.
The rice, she explained, will be distributed to all the peripheral health centers in the two districts, noting that the peripheral health units are in the frontline of the Ebola fight and the workers needed to be motivated.
Responding, the Chairman of the Taskforce in Kenema thanked Mr Sesay through the Minority Leader on behalf of both Kenema and Kailahun for the donation and assured him that the food will get to the right beneficiaries in the two districts.
The Resident Minister, Mayah Kaikai also expressed his appreciation for the timely donation and urged other well- meaning Sierra Leoneans to do the same.
Mr. Augustine Sannoh, chair of the Logistics Committee also thanked Mr. Sesay for his gesture and prayed that the Ebola will soon be a thing of the past.
