Parliamentarians for Global Action (PGA) joins the Council on Peace and Security of the African Union, the UN Secretary General, the UN Security Council, the European Union and many others that have firmly condemned the military coup in Mali.
PGA calls upon all parties to exercise restraint, to cease and abstain from any further acts of violence of any kind and for a swift resumption of civilian rule and constitutional order.
PGA extends its support to, and solidarity with, the Chair of the PGA Mali Group, Mr. Boubacar Diarra MP - who has been in contact with the organization in recent days - as it does with all the people of Mali, in the face of this still very volatile and uncertain situation.
The vision and actions of PGA aim at contributing to the creation of a Rules-Based International Order in which the respect for fundamental human rights is anchored in the Rule of Law. PGA therefore urges that the electoral process be preserved and that an inclusive dialogue be quickly re-established.
PGA is currently engaged, within the framework of its Campaign for the Effectiveness and Universality of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC) System, in promoting the full implementation of the Rome Statute in the domestic legal order of Mali.
